Union Station Holiday Market 2016

The Union Station Holiday Market (#USHM) is back! Toronto Market Co. is hosting their 3rd holiday market, this time on the main floor of Union Station in downtown Toronto. There are approximately 20 local businesses, designers, artisans and gourmet food vendors offering one-of-a-kind gifts, just in time for Christmas! The market runs from December 5th to 16th and is free admission to the public.

We had the opportunity to join them for the launch of the market on December 5th. To celebrate, we enjoyed an incredible donut wall and other desserts from Jelly Modern Donuts and MoRoCo Chocolate, while listening to live music by Frost and Ivy.

Having the market at Union Station makes it easy and accessible for anyone to finish their holiday shopping. From clothing and jewelry from local designers, exotic marinades and butters, teas, bath bombs and colourful socks, there’s something for everyone and you won’t find these gifts anywhere else.

We tasted some samples at Lee’s Ghee, a maker of organic ghee (clarified butter) with unique flavours. Ghee originates from India and has been used for thousands of years as a cooking oil. It works well for sautéing and frying, and Lee’s flavoured ghee adds an extra level of flavour to your cooking. We loved the “Maple Baby” which is a Canadian maple-infused ghee. It has a gritty texture and a subtle maple flavour which would pair well with toast.

The Saha International Cuisine booth sells marinades inspired from all over the world. From the Caribbean, to the middle-east and Thailand, adding the Saha marinades to your stir fry can add a world of flavour.

The Union Station Holiday Market only runs until Dec 16, so make sure you stop to browse, shop local and enjoy the festive atmosphere!

Market Runs from December 5 - 16, 2016
